Holly Jolly Christmas

Christmas was amazing. I love spending time with my family and friends. We had a very low key Christmas Eve, mostly wrapping last minute presents. Karliegh and I didn't wake up until almost9. I think it is the latest Christmas morning ever. We came out side by side this year.
Christmas Morning. (yeah I blinked. BIG surprise!)
Showing off my new camera! It's red and tiny and I love it.
I got lots of clothes and a GPS I'm pretty excited about that because now I can know how fast I'm driving! I FINALLY got to give Karleigh her present. I got her Calamity Jane (we LOVED it when we were younger and still do) I got it back in October and have been waiting to give it to her. I also got to give Jonny his blanket it is giant! The Andersons came over for a delicious dinner we has prime rib, mashed potatoes, orange rolls and more. I was bad at taking pictures (my battery was charging) but here are a few including one of the beautiful table.
Waiting for dinner.
We had fun talking with everyone. We also played our new game Pictureka. It was lots of fun. I love the holidays. Jonny's family postponed Christmas a few days so that Aaron and Elena could be there. So their Christmas Eve was Sunday night so I went over to celebrate with them. We had their traditional dinner: a Swedish dish which is rice topped with whipped cream and pineapple, parsnips (they have fun with how gross they are I just hate the texture), ribs and potatoes. We had a Christmas program: singing and the Christmas story. Then we opened Christmas pajamas. I even got a pair. They are pretty much awesome. Yes they are one piece.
Yeah we're cool.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We missed seeing our extended family and Taryn and Grant but we had fun together.

One more tradition

Every year we get PJs on Christmas Eve. We all wear them and last year they all matched so we had matching PJs on Christmas morning. We also line up to go out and look at the presents. It would always be youngest to oldest or oldest to youngest so being in the middle kind of sucked. But my parents did give me a chance up front every once in awhile. Now, if we want me up front we go shortest to tallest! Here is a picture from last year. The bows were wrapped around the PJs. Notice Grant is also sporting one. Don't worry his PJs are the Grinch not pink and brown zebra.

Christmas Traditions

I love Christmas. I know that is not really unique to me but whatever. This year is going to be very different than past years. Every year we go down to San Diego for Christmas (we stayed in Davis when I was 2 and then two years ago because my mom was sick.) When I was young we would stay at my grandparents house. When my grandma passed away and my grandpa moved into a retirement home we started going to my great-aunt Joan's. Joan passed away earlier this year so we no longer have a home to stay in and Christmas in a hotel doesn't appeal to us.
All of these changes have made me think about how much I love our family traditions. We would spend Christmas Eve with my dad's family at my aunt and uncle's. It was always so fun. We would have a big dinner and when we were little we would act out the nativity story costumes and all. Some pictures from past years.
My immediate family would wake up early Christmas day and look though our stockings and open presents. Some pictures looking through our stockings. Also a picture of our presents, we go all out. We love doing big ribbons and fun paper. (Yeah my hair is super dark.)
Then before my grandma passed away my dad's side of the family would all get together on Christmas morning and have breakfast and open presents. The past few years we have just opened presents on Christmas Eve. Then we would get together with my mom's side of the family for Christmas dinner, desserts and presents. Christmas a few years ago.
I am sad to not be going to San Diego this year but I am excited to start some new traditions this year. One last thing. I love this picture and it has become a fun Christmas memory. Grant and Taryn got a KitchenAide mixer. Grant really wanted a green apple colored one but thought they were getting the silver one. This is a picture of him seeing that the label says green apple. "Babe, babe! This says green apple! A green apple mixer and Nacho Libre! This is the best Christmas EVER!!!!"
Sorry this post is a little long. Merry Christmas everyone!

My creations

I made these headbands the other night. I saw this ribbon at Michaels and decided I had to have it. I think it made a pretty cute Christmas headband.
It says Holly Jolly on it in case you can't read it.
The other one I was making a gift for someone and decided to make one for myself too. I think it turned out really cute.
I just covered the headband with brown ribbon and then put the buttons on. So there you go. Also, here are some pictures from when we got our Christmas tree. They were on my mom's camera and she hasn't done anything with them.

Lights, Subbing, Home

The past few days have been a little crazy. On Tuesday night Jonny and I went to Salt Lake and had dinner and look at the Christmas lights at Temple square with a bunch of his cousins and their significant others, I think there were 12 of us in all. It was lots of fun to see everyone and spend times together. And the lights were beautiful of course.A group picture was taken, just not on my camera. So you'll have to settle for just Jonny and me.
Then on Wednesday I did my first sub job for a 6th grade class. It went pretty well. I mean of course they were a little crazy I mean it was 6th grade boys mixed with a sub, at Christmas time but it wasn't as bad as could be. I think they were surprised when they couldn't get away with whatever they wanted like crawling around durning reading time and switching seats. It was kind of a long day but it was kind of fun.
Right after subbing a picked Kars up ran home and finished last minute packing and headed to the airport to go home. So there is a VERY good chance this was only exciting to Karleigh and me but I'll tell about our BEST flights ever. So we get on our first plane and go to grab the Spirit magazine to do the crossword and find that someone has left People magazine! We were so excited. Then when the flight attendant brought us our drinks we got full cans of soda (without asking) they just gave them to us. We were pretty excited about that. (Karleigh's can was a super cute Christmas can too.) Then we switched planes in LA and on our next plane we found a book in my seat back pocket! I know it is nothing super cool but it was exciting to us! So now I'm home for the holidays!

Ashley's Early Birthday

Ashley's birthday is on Christmas so we never really get to celebrate with her. So this year I made cupcakes and we had people over to celebrate. Ashley requested Funfetti cake and rainbow chip frosting. I now have a hard time just making normal cakes and cupcakes now that I have made cute ones but I feel like Funfetti is hard to work with. Then I remembered the tie-dye cupcakes Taryn made and decided they would be perfect. They were so much fun. Katie was over on Saturday night so she, Jonny and I made them.
Before they are baked. The colors were so cool. It reminds me of Hook when the food first starts to appear and they have a giant food fight.
Jonny and Katie layering the colors.
Showing off our cool cupcakes.
Baked!
Ashley blowing out the candles.
Tie-Dye!
Kory got a cupcake to the face.
Another group shot.
On a side note here is a picture of the pjs I made for Jonny and myself. I know it is cheesy but I don't really care. We were wearing them for my ward Christmas party. It was a pajama party.

Movie Quotes

I love movies and movie quotes. I was recently watching one of my favorite movies and it has a random quote in it that I love. I'll say it randomly and ask people what it is from and no one ever knows. So I'm going to put it up here and see who can tell me. I'm putting up a few others too. They are random quotes from movies, most are chick flicks and a few comedies. Good Luck!
  1. "Well hellooooo big dollop."
  2. "Peanut butter man are we sir?"
  3. "Watch out for the yellow ones. They don't stop."
  4. "I don't think anybody has called me a butthead since the 9th grade." -"Maybe not to your face."
  5. "A girl asks you to dance, you dance."
  6. "Sorry little darlin', hope I didn't dent your do."
  7. "There's glass between us!"
  8. "Two for you Glenn Coco. Way to go Glenn Coco."
Well there you go have fun! The first one is the one that inspired this post by the way.

I have blinking issues

For some reason I ALWAYS blink in pictures when there is a flash. I thought it would be kind of funny to show just how bad it is. These were taken right in a row. It got ridiculous. I would like to state though that I didn't blink in the first one and Jonny wasn't paying attention. So here ya go!

He cannot believe we have had to take the picture this many times!
I'm annoyed and taking a minute to try and prepare myself. Karleigh decided to document it.
We tried to take one without the flash - too dark.
My favorite part about this is Jonny is smiling like nothing strange is going on.
Stupid squinty eye! We were so close.
FINALLY! It took forever but I really like this one.
It is seriously annoying. I can't seem to stop. And I actually left out a few pictures. Luckily Jonny loves me and will smile for a million pictures. And Karleigh was patient and took a ton. Notice Jonny finally got to finish his pizza!

Christmas Pops

I love to bake. Elena (Jonny's sister-in-law) and I decided to make some cake pops for Christmas. I saw them on the Bakerella website and thought they were adorable so I gave them a try. They were definitely more intimidating than the ghost one but I think they turned out really well. I'm not going to lie I am proud of them and I think they are adorable. We made Christmas trees and reindeer. Here are some pictures.
The color isn't the best but you get the idea. There are a lot of other cute ones just click here.

BYU vs. Utah aka The Holy War

I came back a few days early from Thanksgiving so I could go to the BYU/Utah game. I was really sad to leave early but at least I got to go up to Apple Hill to get the Christmas tree. It was the fastest decision made on a tree ever. Which was nice since it was pouring rain. We may have insisted on looking longer if it wasn't raining but the tree we got was beautiful and we usually
find one at the beginning, keep looking for awhile and then go back to the original tree and get it. So we just cut out the extra. Our tree was 17 feet, we ended up cutting off 5 feet to make it fit. I love it. Sadly I left before we got to decorate it but I get to see it for Christmas.
Then on Saturday I went to the game. I was a little worried when it started 6-0 Utah. Then it got better when we scored 20 points and they didn't score anymore. We were feeling pretty confident and then some play calls lead to a tie game that went into overtime. Luckily we held them to a field goal and Max to Andrew George lead to a touchdown and a win! We rushed the field and ran the 100 yards to get to the team. It was lots of fun even if it was frustrating that we let the come back!
This picture is after we got back off the field and half the people had left. Jonny's mom got a picture while everyone was on the field. The whole field was completely full.
I saw this picture in a few places and thought it was funny. This is the play that won the game.
