Vegas Reception and More Car Drama

Just a warning this post is kind of long because there was a lot to tell. Elena is from Las Vegas and so she and Aaron had a reception there. Jonny really wanted to be there for it but it was a bit of a challenge as it was on a Wednesday night and he had classes on Wed and Thurs. His major is VERY demanding and so missing classes is not good. But we came up with a solution. We figured if we leave right after his classes Wed. We could drive the 5 hours to Vegas be there for the reception. Stay the night with in his family's hotel and then leave at about 6am and make it back for his classes at 12:30. No problem right? We're young we can do it. Well it turns

out WE can the Corolla not so much. About an hour into the trip Jonny pulls out his phone and it tells him the time to Vegas is more like 6 hours not 5 (which would get us there at 8. The

reception started at 7.) but this is already an hour in so we decided to keep going. We make up

the time as we drive and about 30 miles outside of Vegas we are feeling pretty good about ourselves because we are going to get there at 7:10, only fashionably late. That is when I look down and see that the thermostat is in the red. So I pull over. For those of you who remember my post about this happening on our way to CA, this was within 10 miles of where we

overheated that time. And low and behold... the same thing was happening! So we wait it out, let the car cool down and fill it with water. While we wait we decide to change in the dark on the side of the road. Let me tell you, trying to put pantyhose on under a pencil skirt while

balancing on your shoes does not work. Then I realize they have a run and so in the process of taking them off I trip and split my skirt up the slit. (I had sewn up the slit a little bit when I got it and I just ripped that part.) So we end up getting there at 7:45 or 8. The reception was

beautiful. The woman who planned it went all out, she said she doesn't have any daughters so

she would never get to do it. Here are some pictures.

They had a fun table with big jars full of candy and little bags to put it in to take home. All the candy was also their wedding colors which was a nice touch!

We got to bed at about 1 and woke up at 5:30 and got out by about 6 so we were on track to make it home in time for class. Unfortunately, the leak or whatever is wrong with my car is worse this time than it was last time. Last time we could make it about 200-300 miles before needing to fill up on antifreeze or water. This time we averaged about 25-35 miles. So what should have been our 5 hour trip turned into 9 or 10 hours. Lets just say this has become an all to familiar sight.

At one stopping point on the side of the road we found a deer skeleton. It was kind of gross but mostly just cool because it was so white and clean. I really wish we had taken a picture, it was perfectly intact.

Quick side note. On the way from the reception to the hotel we stopped to get food at a really weird WalMart. It was a neighborhood market and only had food. Then we went to KFC and they took over 30 mins to get us our food so I turned off my lights so the battery wouldn't die. I forgot to tun them back on and as Jonny's parents were signaling to me I got pulled over by the meanest cop in the world. Let's just say he was really rude and stopped just short of calling me stupid. It was not appreciated on top of the other car troubles.

Aaron (Jonny's brother) and Elena got married this weekend! They have been dating for a little over two years (I think that is right). I am so excited for them. I love Elena so I am excited they are together. The wedding was beautiful and everything went really well. Aaron likes suspenders so all of the wedding party wore them. The men were in red shirts, black pants, black ties and suspenders. All the girls were in either red, yellow or white shirts, black skirts, suspenders and a tie was kind of added at the end. They got married in the Logan Temple we all came to greet them as they came out. Then we had a luncheon at The Coppermill and then there was a reception in the evening. It was so fun and everything went well. So here are some pictures of the wedding and the happy couple.

I meant to post...

This post is dedicated to a few things that I meant to post and for one reason or another never got around to it. I really don't have any excuse for not updating I just haven't. So here goes...

I like my new apartment a lot but there are things that are worn out and not very pretty. The lamp shade in my room was one of those things. It was hideous! One day I just got sick of looking at it and I was feeling crafty so I transformed it into this...

Sorry it is slightly blurry but you get the idea. It matches the plastic drawers in my room that I covered to make it look cleaner.

Next, a few weeks ago I got an email from the man I interviewed with for an internship with the LDS Church offering me tickets to conference. I may not have gotten the job but I did get good seats. So Jonny, Karleigh, Kirstin and I went out for the Sunday afternoon session. It was really cool to be there, I had never been before.

This last one is from tonight. I had leftover pumpkin filling from making pumpkin cookies so I decided to make muffins. I just went to the internet to find a recipe and I was very happy with it so I thought I would share. I got it from this website. It is really easy and really yummy! The only problem with this recipe is it only makes 12 muffins!

I would also like to add that I'm really happy Fall is here. I love making all these pumpkin things and having the smell of spices. I like getting to get out my long-sleeved shirts and sweaters. The trees are starting to change and Halloween is coming. My only problem is this year it got really cold, really fast. It was literally 85 one day and 45 the next and it hasn't gotten above 65 since. So basically I feel like there are some in between clothes that I missed out on wearing but that's ok I guess I'll adjust.

Home Sweet Home

I got to go home for a few days last week. My mom called like two weeks ago and told me my aunt was going to be driving from Provo to Davis and said that I should drive with her and then they would fly me home. So last Tuesday I went home! It was really nice to be home. I enjoyed getting to spend time with my family and see all the kitties and Lassen. I also got some doctors appointments out of the way. I went shopping with my mom at Galleria which is always fun. We got to go to H&M which I love.

I got lots of nice work clothes, now I just need a job. They will come in handy for interviews and it is nice to just have some professional clothes. We also found suspenders for me to wear for Aaron and Elena's wedding. I got to eat at some good Davis spots Pluto's and of course In n Out. We also went to the Farmers Market which I haven't been to in awhile. We also went to see Love Happens. I liked it a lot. I thought it would be funnier but it was still great. I want her house. I left early Saturday morning. It was really nice to take a break from the job hunt but now it is time to get back to it.

It's official!

I am a BYU graduate! I know I had a long post full of pictures of graduation back in April but that was just walking. I had to finish up an internship during the Spring/Summer terms before I got my diploma. But last week my diploma got here. YAY! So now I just need to find a job. No easy task in this economy. I loved my college experience. I loved the classes I took and I love my major. I really want to find a job in my field but that might not be possible right now. Part of me (a big part) is glad to be done with school- no more tests, no more papers. However, another part of me kind of wishes someone would hand me a syllabus that would tell me what is coming in the next few months. Either way I'm excited to find a job and get started in my career!

Happy Birthday Kindra!

Saturday was my new roommate Kindra's 21st birthday so I made her a cake. She requested Funfetti with rainbow chip frosting. I love that kind so I was happy to do it. My only problem is that frosting makes it very hard to decorate. I mean it is kind of a decoration on its own but I still like to decorate it. So thank you to Karleigh for the idea! Here is the cake.The squares are made of blue sprinkles. I made a stencil out of wax paper and there ya go! She seemed to like it a lot so I was happy. Now I just need to get some cake pans that are something other than 9x13. Making and decorating those gets old. Hopefully I'll get around to get before the March birthday rush!

Before and After

So I am a little behind with the blogging so here is an update of some of what has been happening, as before and afters.
So first is moving. Ok, so here is the before.

We had our beautiful tree and they painted over it while we were trying to move out.We stayed up VERY late and then woke up VERY early. Which lead to me wear rain boots with shorts (I don't know why I'm holding detergent). It was a very long process and it was very tiring but now I have a nice new place with my own room and bathroom and a nice big bed.

Next...
Before... This big hunk of raw pork (12 pounds to be exact) was cut down into pieces and all the fat was cut off (not a fun process)...After it became a delicious Cafe Rio style pork salad...So this one isn't the one we actually made but I forgot to take a picture so you get to see this one.
And finally...
Before I was really excited to watch these teams play and was even more excited when BYU won. It was pretty much amazing. I love college football and it is even better when the Cougars win. It was a great game and BYU totally dominated even though the score doesn't really reflect that. And after the three of us went to the Provo Airport at 1:30 am...and joined all of these people...
in welcoming home these guys...It was really fun to be there with a bunch of people. Everyone was cheering and when the plane doors opened it was insane people were chanting BYU and Bronco and singing the fight song. We got to give high fives to lots of the players and Bronco gave a quick speech. Here's Bronco with his police escort. So glad he decided to go for it on fourth and four!
