Fake Birthdays

In my apartment we do a little something for everyone's birthdays. We usually take the birthday girl out to dinner, give her a present from all of us and of course make her a cake. Well Ashley and Karlie's birthdays fall during times when we aren't all around (Christmas Day and in June) so they both picked fake birthdays and we celebrated on those days. Ashley's was last month and Karlie's was on Friday the 20th of this month. She said all she ever wanted was an ice cream cake and she never got one so we figured that was perfect. We also got her a purple scarf and took her to Taco Bell (which isn't cheap of us because it is her favorite place to eat). We blindfolded her and went to a Taco Bell that wasn't close to our place so she got really confused. While there the manager came out and gave us all free Frutistas for calling in and doing a survey, it was weird but the drinks were good. I honestly don't think that I have ever seen anyone as truly excited to get a scarf as Karlie was. She couldn't stop smiling and laughing and it was completely genuine, and then when the ice cream cake came out it was even better. The cake was amazing, red velvet with cake batter ice cream, the one pictured below is the actual cake.
We ended the night by playing games, we played a fun word/charades game where everyone writes down 5 names and they are put in a bowl and through 3 rounds you get your team to guess them. The first round you describe them, second round you can only use 3 words to get your team to guess the person and the last round is charades. It is really fun. We also played Buzz Word which I love. All in all it was a pretty fun fake birthday. I also got High School Musical 3 at WalMart I was quite excited I love that movie, really I love all three of them, maybe I should be embarrassed by that but I'm not ! Sorry that I don't have any real pictures, I was lame and didn't think about taking any, but at least it is the right cake!

Valentine's Day and San Diego

This year's Valentine's Day was a little bit different for Jonny and me. My great-aunt Joan is sick and the doctor has only given her a few weeks to live. It's one of those things that is really sad but she is 89 and has had a good life and is ready to go. But Karleigh and I wanted to go visit her and say goodbye so Jonny, Karleigh, her friend Seville and I piled into the car on Friday the 13th and headed to San Diego for the 3-day weekend. We made a stop at In-n-Out in St. George, so I have now had it in 3 states! I have tried many times to count how many I have been too but it is just way too many.We also stopped in Vegas and went into a few of the hotels and casinos just to look around which is always fun. We were going to go in the roller coaster at New York, New York we had even paid and were in line but it started raining and I guess it is too dangerous so we got our money back but didn't get to go.

We got into San Diego around 2am and went right to sleep. The next day Valentine's Day we headed out to the beach and laid out in the sun and wrote in the sand, we also walked around the boardwalk and went to the San Diego Temple. At the temple one of the missionaries was from our home stake and we had no idea she was there, crazy!

A day at the beach, Kars and Seville came too, but I don't have a picture of them.

The temple, so pretty at any time of the year!

We didn't really do anything Valentiney (yes I made it up) because we were with my family but we still enjoyed it. I gave Jonny a white tie with kisses all over it, made by me, and a slide show of pictures, when we get a chance he is taking me out to dinner. We also went and saw Taken with may parents and Kars and Seville. It was really good. We went to church with Grandpa on Sunday and then some of our cousins came over so that was fun. We also got to see my mom's brother Rocky and his wife Karel who we rarely get to see. We left Monday they first part of the trip went well, there was rain but nothing too bad. We made another stop in Vegas to hit the rest of the hotels. Once we left it did not stop POURING rain until it started snowing VERY hard around Cedar City, so we ended up having to get a hotel room and wait out the weather for the night so that we could drive safely and so we wouldn't have to drive 15 mph for the last part. So that is pretty much a break down of our weekend!

Prince Charming

So this post is sort of in response to my friend's post on his blog and in honor of Valentine's Day. So my friend posted part of an essay written by a girl he knows who basically said there are no good guys out here at BYU and that to be happy you just have to settle, and that there is no such thing a "prince charming." I will most definitely have to disagree with that statement. I will agree that no man (or woman) is perfect and that whoever you do find will have faults but you learn to focus on their strengths and not "settle." I'm sure that even Cinderella's Prince Charming wasn't perfect.
I think the real thing is to find someone you love and they become your prince charming, your other half and you learn to see past their faults and they become pretty much perfect. I don't think that anyone has to settle into a relationship, I think people that do most of the time just aren't willing to put out the effort that it takes to make a better relationship work. I have found my prince charming, I know that's cheesy but he is, he is even entered into my phone as that.

Jonny and I have been dating for almost 5 years and I have loved all of it. I'm not going to pretend it is always easy because it's not, it takes work but that makes me love him even more. He makes me a better person and I hope I do the same for him. I honestly think that anyone can have an amazing and happy relationship if they just try. Anyone who is willing to put in the effort can have their prince charming or their princess. For the most part I also think that any two people can love each other and be happy together, I think there are people who are more right for one another but I don't really think there are "soul mates" or one perfect person for you. I'm just going to end with one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies: The Wedding Planner. "Love is not perfect, love, love is just love." I think that quote pretty much sums it up. Hopefully that wasn't too cheesy, if it was give me a break it is almost Valentine's Day!

Fun, Workouts and Stess

It has been a little while since I have written but here goes. Taryn was here last week which was awesome I loved having her here. She stayed at my apartment, so we got to hang out, we went shopping with Karleigh one day and had a Superbowl party. I didn't really care which team won, I cheered for the Cardinals because they the underdog and because the Steelers beat the Chargers, who I was cheering for. So to make a long story short I had a great week with Taryn. On another exciting note I have started going to the gym regularly, it has only been like a week and a half but I am excited about it and motivated to go. I also got really cute new workout clothes that I am really excited about, like my purple Underarmor shirt, it is pretty much amazing. I couldn't get a picture of the purple one so imagine it in purple instead of pink.
I was excited to go to a dance class at the gym tonight with my roommates but sadly I have WAY too much work to do. This last week and a half was crazy. I had a 5 page paper due in Humanities on Friday, it wasn't too bad but who wants to write a paper? I also took a test for one of my Comms electives and I got 98% I was pretty excited. Sadly the one I got wrong I knew and convinced myself otherwise, stupid multiple choice. But thats ok I'll take a 98!
The worst was probably the test that I had to take this morning, it was for Humanities and was the visual portion, we had to learn 42 different pictures, the title, artist, time period, where it was from and the significance. That is WAY more information than I can handle, Katie and I were up VERY late studying, we came up with some very funny, but helpful, ways of remembering everything. I think I did well. Now I just have to take the other half on Thursday. But before that I have to take a religion test and turn in a paper and do a presentation, hence the stress portion. I am trying to do my paper right now but needed a break. All I have to do is make it through Thursday then hopefully I will be headed here...
SAN DIEGO! We are headed down for the three-day weekend. My parents will be there and my Aunt Joan is really sick so we wanted to go visit her. So it will be slightly sad but hopefully it will be a good trip, if I can make it through this week.

25 Things

I am copying a few of my friends and using this list on Facebook and on my blog, but I figured I had to come up with 25 things about myself so I'm going to use it where ever I want! Enjoy!
  1. I have a weird obsession with checking the weather, I check it at least once a day, and usually more, I look at it before I go to bed, if I have time in the morning and at random points throughout the day.
  2. I am terrified of hitting an animal with a car. Over the summer I thought I hit a cat and was crying, I found out it was a hubcap. But I have seen a cat get hit it was awful.
  3. I love to plan. My dream job is to be a wedding planner. I partly chose my major to do event planning, even though on the information sheet it said in bold letters “This is not a party planning major.” I don’t know if this is related but I love the movie The Wedding Planner and have seen it more times than I can count.
  4. Although wedding planner is my dream job my goal in life is to be a wife and stay-at-home mom. I would drop any career in a second to stay home with my children.
  5. I like my pajama top to match the bottoms, whether it is a set or a random top and bottoms I like the colors to look good together.
  6. I love clothes and anything like it. I have way too many shoes and purses but I love them so much. I also love coats, when I watch movies I always notice the coats like Anne Hathaway’s in Get Smart the plaid one is amazing—I want it, same with all her coats in Devil Wears Prada.
  7. I am pretty much always cold, especially my fingers and toes, I can have gloves on or be inside and they are still like ice.
  8. I can still remember my first sleepover. It was with Elizabeth we sat on our red futon that we called “the red thing” and ate white cheddar popcorn and watched TGIF back in its glory days.
  9. I will most likely have something in common with Laura Bush: I will marry the only man I have ever kissed.
  10. I am a PC but I really want to be a Mac, when I get my next computer I will get a Mac. I could also watch the Mac/PC commercials all day; it is one of my favorite ad campaigns.
  11. Thanks to Jonny I know way more about sports than I should. If you give me a city I can most likely name at least one professional sports team from it, and in some cases all of them. One year I could even name the whole Red Sox bullpen.
  12. I really don’t like people to touch me. I don’t mind when Jonny and my family can do it to an extent but I don’t like when people I don’t know well, or at all, touch me. It makes me uncomfortable. And hair touching me is the worst!
  13. I wish that life was a musical, like when I walk down the street I wish everyone would start singing and break into a choreographed dance.
  14. I have thought about what I would do if I was driving my car and someone started shooting at me—duck down, hit the gas and run them over.
  15. I love going to stores like IKEA and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I like to look at all the stuff and decide what I want in my house. I especially love the towel room at Bed, Bath and Beyond and the room with all the comforters at IKEA.
  16. I love the beach and love staying and watching the sun set and having a bonfire.
  17. I sometimes wish I could have lived in a different era because I think the style back then was so cool. The era itself changes.
  18. I could never be one of the people who drive cars with the “Oversized load” sign that drives behind the truck that has the oversized load. I think that would be the worst job.
  19. I love movies but I have a hard time sitting and watching them, I want to but I have to be doing something else too or I won’t pay attention. I think I am slightly ADD.
  20. I also think I am slightly dyslexic. I read numbers in the wrong order and I really struggle to tell my left from my right.
  21. I can handle when people are mean to me but I cannot handle people being mean to my friends or family.
  22. I’m not very good at parking, unless it is reverse diagonal, then I’m a pro. Like when the spaces are all diagonal and you are supposed to only pull in from one direction, I do my best parking by going into those from the wrong direction.
  23. I have a bad habit of bringing a new idea or person into a conversation and not explaining it because I know what I mean I assume everyone else followed my train of thought. I’ll say “She does the same thing” without saying who “she” is or what the “thing” is.
  24. I love the smell of the blacktop, or asphalt, right after it rains, and really the smell of rain in general.
  25. I have never doubted my love for my family or theirs for me.
