I'm thankful for...

The chance I had to come home for Thanksgiving. For all this wonderful food my parents prepared.
I'm thankful for our family tradition of going to see movies for Thanksgiving so that we could go see this...
(as a side, I am thankful Taylor Lautner is attractive shirtless so it could remove the image of Robert Pattinson shirtless from my mind.) I am thankful for Will Ferrel's comic genius that brought me this movie...
I am thankful that I finally grew out of my aversion to Christmas music and that I am looking forward to listening to it tomorrow. I am thankful for whipped cream that makes pumpkin pie delicious. I am thankful that I will be able to go with my family to get our Christmas tree tomorrow. Most importantly I am thankful that I have all of these people in my life.
I'm thankful for the holiday season and the chance it gives me to be with my family and friends. I am thankful for so much more but this is a good list for now.

Sick

Jonny and I are both sick. It is no fun to say the least. We both started with coughs that really were not bad and now we are both miserable. Really my whole apartment is sick. We are a sad sight. Now Jonny and I have both been coughing worse, we have had fevers on and off and everything that goes with fevers. We have been pretty much sitting around relaxing and drinking a lot of fluids. My diet has consisted of the following...

This by the way is the best 7up ever! And up there among the drinks. But it is seasonal so Jonny and I stock up on it.

I have forgotten how much fevers suck- hot then cold, sore muscles, sensitive skin. I am just waiting for it to go away. Hopefully that will happen before break. The part that makes me the most mad is everything went through for being a sub and now I can't go in, so I guess I'll wait until after break.

Call me Miss Rose

So I am still looking for a job. There just aren't a lot of companies hiring right now. It has been frustrating to say the least. But I have found at least temporary work. I am going to be a substitute teacher! Ashley told me what staffing company here does the subbing so I gave them a call and signed up. I went through the orientation and I am now signed up and can go and sub in schools. I am really excited and slightly nervous. Hopefully it will be fun, at the very least I will have some good stories to tell!

New Recipe

Yesterday I was trying to decide what to make for dinner tonight. I decided I would try making biscuits and gravy. I found a recipe that was made with sausage and so that was what I was going to do. Then my mom told me she made pan fried chicken and gravy, a meal I have always loved. So I changed it to chicken instead. I was a little nervous to try it but it turned out pretty well.
Browning the chicken.
Cutting the biscuits without a cookie cutter. I used a can top and cut around it, kind of ghetto but it worked. I was just going to use the Grands biscuits but I decided to go all out.
The finished biscuits. The last two I just did as drop biscuits so they aren't as pretty.
The finished product. (The picture isn't great.)
The chicken turned out really well and so did the biscuits. Sadly the gravy wasn't amazing. It needed to be a little more flavorful. On the bright side I can easily remedy that for the next time. It is one that I will definitely have to try again.

I'm addicted...

to dipping things in chocolate. It started with my cake pops. When I was dipping them we had some Oreos and dipped those too. There were delicious so I bought more Oreos and more chocolate to dip it in. We dipped the mint and regular Oreos. Then we went all out dipping them. Here are some pictures of the final products.
It is so much fun. I was actually looking through my food trying to find other things I can cover in chocolate. I couldn't find anything. Now I am justing thinking of things I could use. Let me know if you have any ideas. Like I said... I'm addicted!

Halloween

This year for Halloween I actually decided what I wanted to be before Halloween day. Jonny was a vampire, the old school kind with a cape, and I was his dark fairy girl. We kind of put the two together and made it work. I think it turned out really well. The one thing that made me mad is we got Jonny these really cool vampire teeth that mold to your teeth so it isn't the annoying 50 cent ones. But for some reason they would not stay in his mouth so they didn't work at all. But vampires don't always have fangs so it worked. I had to shampoo my hair 3
times to get all the black spray dye out of my hair.
Karleigh and Steven were thunder and lightning.
We went to a Halloween party at Karleigh's. There was lots of good food and we played some fun games. I made ghost cake pops from the Bakerella website. They were fun and I think they turned out really well. They take kind of a long time but they aren't too difficult. I think they turned out really well. They are cake and frosting mixed together and then dipped in chocolate. We put them around my haunted house so it was a little haunted scene.
I also made 7-layer bean dip.
Karleigh and her roommate made Lil' Smokies wrapped in crescent rolls and then made them look like mummies and this adorable cake.
It was lots of fun and I think everything turned out really well.
